NBC 2015 Fall Previews

I have been working my way through the major networks to see what is coming in the Fall.
Here are the links for ABC and CBS to see their Fall lineup of new shows with clips. There are affiliate links in the post below to shows and movies at Amazon if you want to check any out or add them to your own library, however that does not influence what I write. I am sharing my own thoughts on my site always.

NBC is being a little bit of a tease, and doesn’t have videos for a lot of their line! I will share what info they have, and hopefully clips will be released soon and I can add them below!

NBC 2015 Fall Previews

I have seen a lot of commercials for this one. A lady is dumped in a bag in the middle of Times Square with a tag that says, “Call the FBI”. She is covered (except her face) in tattoos, and has no memory of any of this. I am assuming she was taken and the whole tattoo thing happened a while back since she seems fairly healed (and not in horrible pain). All we know is she has an FBI agent’s name tattooed on her back.  Now it will be figuring out who she is, what all these clues mean, and why this one agent.

The Player

We have Alex Kane, who is a Vegas security consultant. His wife is murdered and now he is pulled into some kind of game. They have a pit boss (Wesley Snipes), dealer, and a player. Alex is the newest player. They bet on crimes, and whether Alex can stop them. There are odds on whether the victim is rescued or killed, or if Alex himself is killed. I have to say I am kinda confused and watched it twice plus paused it. The trailer was very flashy, but lacked some substance for me to determine whether I would watch it or not.

Chicago Med

(No clip available at this time) This seems to be another part of the Chicago shows currently on NBC. There isChicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and now we have Chicago Med. I feel like it will be another medical drama like ER, Grey’s Anatomy, etc. but you will have some crossover with the other two shows. If you watch the others then this would probably be an easy transition.

Heroes Reborn

I have been so excited about this one! I loved Heroes and it ended abruptly with a big cliffhanger. I won’t reveal any of that now…go watch Heroes! The original series basically had people with these superhuman abilities, and a government entity that would step in and try to control them. You had some who were good and some who were most definitely not.
We are now in the future (I am not sure how far), and these superhuman people are being hunted. They are called “enhanced humans” or EVOS. There are a few familiar faces. The most recognizable is Noah Bennett (the Cheerleader’s dad), or the man wearing the horn rimmed glasses. We also have the beloved, Hiro, from the original series.
This feels like a reboot with some familiar faces to introduce us to the new ones. I can’t wait to see how they explain where Noah Bennett has been, and what is going on.

Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris

I am not sure what this show is yet. It is a “Best” show. It is the best of a bunch of different things: prank, stunt, game, prize, surprise, music, etc. I can’t quite tell if it is more talk/game show or a variety show. Neil Patrick Harris being the host makes me for sure give it a shot. I just hope to understand it a bit more. It is very chaotic looking right now, with an America’s Got Talent feel with all the different acts.

Truth Be Told

What the heck? When I first started on this it was called “People are Talking” then I came back and now it is “Truth Be Told”. I thought I lost it for a minute until I saw the old name at the end of the clip. This is a sitcom focused on two friends and their wives. I know the one couple with the child is married, but not sure about the other. The preview they need a baby sitter, and then think the one they hired is a porn actress. Feels like so-so comedy with a big laugh track.
Of course you spot Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who I remember best from Saved by the Bell in this sitcom. The other face that jumped out at me was Meaghan Rath from Being Human (the US verison that aired on Syfy).

Shades of Blue

(No clip available at this time) This one stars Jennifer Lopez as a New York detective, who has been involved with some dirty cops. She’s been taking bribes and protection money, but she is using it to provide for her daughter (Uh-huh..sounds like beginning of Breaking Bad). She gets busted by the FBI and has to turn on the cops she has been involved with. Now she will have to figure out how to not let them find out and all that.

You, Me, and The End of The World

(No clip available at this time) This is an apocalyptic comedy/drama. You  have a bunch of what they call “eclectic” people, who lives start to intersect. That is an interesting concept, and I will be curious how it plays out. There are a lot of familiar faces in this show.  One that I see to see everywhere: Parks and Recreation and now Brothers and Sisters that I’m binge watching.
Rob Lowe is a busy guy. He is in this NBC comedy/drama and in the new show, The Grinder, with Fred Savage on Fox.

(No clip available at this time) For some reason the NBC site wouldn’t open this one. I went to Deadline it to find out what the show was about. From what I read there it is a medical drama based on real life heart surgeon, Dr. Kathy Magliato. She is a top surgeon, strong and fearless in the operating room, and “racy” in her personal life..that could be a whole range of behavior. I can’t say based on the bit they had written. It stars Melissa George, who many remember from The Slap (never watched it), but I know her best from the The Amityville Horror with Ryan Reynolds.

(No clip available at this time) This comedy centers about the employees of a “Superstore”, and their relationships. I’m sure they’re trying to get on the band wagon of shows like Friends, Seinfeld, The Office, etc. where you have people who are like family and the hijinks. I don’t know how funny this will be. So many are sick of these superstores, or you know people who work in them. The real life isn’t near comedy.

Hot and Bothered

(No clip available at this time) This looks like a fun comedy about the behind the scenes drama of a Latino soap opera. If this were set at an US soap opera, I wouldn’t think it would work. Daytime soaps have almost all died out. What bits I do catch on TV that doesn’t seem to be the case with the Latino ones. I do love that Eva Longoria is in it! She played a walking soap opera diva in Desperate Housewives, but has great humor.

(No clip available at this time) I watched Coach some when it was originally on. I wasn’t the biggest fan, but now after ParenthoodI really like Craig T. Nelson (of course Poltergeist). Coach is picking up 18 years later. Hayden is getting out of retirement to help his son, a newly hired coach, deal with a college where they know nothing about sports. I am hoping for some humor like The Replacements(great flick).

Emerald City

(No clip available at this time)This is the Wizard of Oz without the singing and beauty. Sounds like we get a grittier look at Oz, and the power struggles there. Supernaturalhas touched on this in a few episodes as well in their show. Here is a great link with the references to Oz from Supernatural. We see Dorothy as a fighter and not a timid girl skipping along with her pals. This will be a good one to check and out a see a different point of view.

(No clip available at this time) I see quite a few recognizable faces with this new comedy. We have a couple, whose kids are grown and out of the house. That means it is time to get their freak on however and wherever they like. That is until both of their adult daughters move back in, and the in-laws decide to not leave the state! I’m sure it will be predictable in its comic situations, but possibly some great dialogue.

Game of Silence

(No clip available at this time) We have a drama about a successful lawyer, whose childhood friends suddenly reappear. There is some deep, dark secret in their past that is resurfacing. Anyone else feel, I Know What You Did Last Summerwritten all over this? It could be good, since it isn’t going for gore but more for relationships between the secret keepers.

First Dates

(No clip available at this time) Produced by Ellen DeGeneres this reality show let’s viewers in on that most awkward experience called the First Date. Each episode shows a variety of couple at the same restaurant on a date, and then at the end of the night we find out if they will date each other again. Yawn! I’d rather something like I have seen in the past where someone sets them up, a Dating Game type of format, or like Blind Date. Not sure how much fun it will be to just watch.

Little Big Shots

(No clip available at this time) Ellen DeGeneres (she’s a busy bee) and Steve Harvey are behind this variety show focused on kids. So, we have America’s Got Talent, but without the prize.
