I have checked out the CBS 2015 Fall TV Previews, and now it is time to see what ABC is going to be bringing to us. (Post contains affiliate links, but as always my own opinions and views). Like all the new shows coming out I am basing my opinions on just the previews. I am not looking for any interviews, or other reviews.
This show is about a fraud investigator, who goes after con artists. She then becomes a victim herself. She finds out the last year has been one big lie and long con her fiancé. That’s a kick in the teeth! I am very interested in this one. Looks like he picked the wrong woman to con, but it does feel like it may be more than just “business” for him. I would say he is falling for the mark in this one, and that will add to the drama level.
SERIES PREMIERE FRIDAY OCT 2 8:30|7:30c
I had no idea that Ken Jeong was a doctor before he became an actor/comedian! This comedy he plays Dr. Ken who is a wonderful doctor, but not a people person. So, he is like a tame House . No being hooked on pills and with a wife and kids. I will check this show out just for Jeong. He was hilarious on Community .
The Family is a thriller/drama about a politician’s family whose young son, Adam, vanished and was presumed dead. It has been ten years and now he has found his way home. There is all kinds of drama. The man convicted of murdering the boy is released. The family is dealing with stresses of running for political office. Throw in an affair, and then finding out the doctor, who confirmed the boy’s identity doesn’t exist! Is this boy really Adam? Is he crazy, a con artist, or a pawn in a bid for political gain?
SERIES PREMIERE TUESDAY SEPT 22 8|7c
Gotta say this looks pretty damn funny! I thought they may go the sketch comedy route like in the 70’s with The Muppet Show. This however is a more of a reality, documentary, behind the scenes spoof style of show. You have your favorites like Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal, the Swedish Chef, etc. which is fabulous. “Animal do nudity if tasteful” Ha!! There is plenty of slap stick and silliness kids will like, but touches of humor geared towards us adults too.
Of Kings and Prophets
This one is a biblical drama, and I will say I have no idea what or if any of it is from the Bible. What I gather from this is you have a king, who wants to retain his power (like any king would want to just give that up), a prophet, whose job is to guide the king by sharing God’s word, and then this third person, who seems to be destine for the throne. This one is good for those like my Hubs, who like the biblical shows and History Channel type stuff. You’re going to have violence, blood, and sex for sure in this one.
Blood and Oil
SERIES PREMIERE SUNDAY SEPT 27 9|8c
First thought when I saw the title…Dallas! It is hard to not see any show about oil and family drama and not think of the huge hit (two separate occasions) of Dallas. So this shows the rich and the poor of oil. You have a young couple trying to get in on the action and the rich trying to keep it all to themselves.
SERIES PREMIERE SUNDAY SEPT 27 10|9c
This show is set at Quantico around a group of recruits training for the FBI. We have a lot of personal drama on this show. Feels very Grey’s Anatomy at the start especially with two of them having sex right off the bat just like Meredith and Derek. The added twist is there is a terrorist attack that seems to have come from the inside, and our heroine is set up for the crime and must find out what happened. So that adds a little 24 feel to the mix, but I wonder how long it will continue. Obviously most if not the whole first season will be about Alex Parrish trying to prove her innocence and find who the real terrorist is. I don’t know if then it will go back to the training base or hop forward or what.
The Real O’Neals
This comedy is focused on an Irish Catholic family, that isn’t as perfect as they appear. We have a klepto daughter, anorexic son, and a gay son plus the parents are divorcing. I’m sure some while have issue with this show, but it is a show! Sometimes it is good to look at religion and its expectations with a dose of humor. This show doesn’t seem to be as focused on religion as it is on just being honest. If you can’t tell your family the truth and have their support you’re screwed.
I am not sure, but this feels like a remake of the John Candy movie, Uncle Buck. Uncle Buck is called in to help care for his nieces and nephew when their nanny quits. He is about as mature as the kids, but of course taking care of the kids helps him grow up as well. Pretty easy read on this show. It could be funny, but a full series it will be hard to keep up the laughs on a weekly basis.
SERIES PREMIERE TUESDAY OCT 27 10|9c
This crime drama is set in 1982, Los Angeles. Feels like a modern day kind of Jack the Ripper. This killer has an MO of making a dedication to the girl he is going to kill before he kills her. This will be an interesting cat and mouse type of show. I know it is called a drama, but definitely feels more like a triller.
Had a familiar face, Erika Christensen, whose series Parenthood (excellent show!) recently wrapped up. Also, got a glimpse of Taissa Farmiga from American Horror Story, and who knew she is the sister of Vera Farmiga from Bates Motel.
There are the 2015 Fall shows for ABC. The ones making my list are:
I didn’t really rank them this time, because they are all really close.
I will check out The Real O’Neals and probably Quantico as well.
